late to the party as always
there’s an article in this (honestly pretty subpar) girls’ magazine my sister is still subscribed to if only because my parents are too lazy to cancel it
the article’s about a trans girl and I was actually pretty impressed with how they handled it.
Of course that could be because they let the girl tell her story herself, which kind of eliminates the need for all those pesky, confusing pronouns.
But I like how they didn’t explain her story with “x was born as A BOY!!” but just with the name her parents gave her, in the little introductory bit. It has a whole lot less judgment. It’s a fact that doesn’t mean that she was ever not her, just that she was born with a different name than she goes by now.
I also like how her stepdad and most of the kids in her schools were really cool with it. That’s pretty hopeful, after all.
It’s a bit less nice how it’s another one of those “I’ve really always known I was x” things, but at the same time I can sort of understand it, ‘cause it IS a magazine for girls aged 12 through 15 or so, and to have had that sort of experience you probably WOULD have to have known it for a long time.
now that I’m not on good terms with the person I’m gonna talk about anymore, I’m just going to say that it’s AMAZING how much better his stuff looks when the face isn’t shown.
can i just take this moment to say that Hyouka is absolutely stunning?
Like there seems to be effort in everything, and if anything’s been particularly off-model, I haven’t seen it. It helps that it’s not an action show, but when I think hyouka, I think “beautiful”
and that’s quite something for a regular anime.
the backgrounds aren’t ghibli or even tsuritama, I guess, but it’s still really pretty
